It looks and feels like something from microsoft.
Or Apple. I'm forced to keep a Mac. It has "launchd" and I freaking hate it with a passion. Especially because it subsumed cron. Now, in order to schedule jobs, you have to write lines upon lines of fucking XML. No way.

I run Slackware 14.0 (the one before the latest) and it provides KDE4, not KDE3. In my experience Slackware doesn't generally prefer older software. In fact, it's usually very up to date.

Reading my own post, I realize there is a common theme in the 2 technologies. Back in the day, content was king. Nowadays, content is just background noise. The mindless and fragmentary way we consume it reveals that it's completely devalued.

I really liked the wordplay about the pipe being "without the slant" (as opposed to a slash). That element gets lost in the new logo.

I seem to remember that, (many?) years ago, /. itself was mirrored on Usenet. Maybe it even had its own hierarchy, I'm not sure.
